Once upon a time a princess
Stepped upon a poisonous snake
It hissed and darted tongue
As a guard pushed her out of the way
He struck it through with sword
Till snake was merely sheath
A bone chilling cry rent the air
The ground split open from beneath
Hideous voice emanated from smoke
'My sweet would not have hurt a fly,
He was my love in serpentine form,
As I have cried, so you shall cry.'
This cruel hex the girl recalled
As her lips touched those of her sweet
They had exchanged wedding vows
Now, he was merely ashes at her feet
Broken down, she didn't notice
As the crowd made its way toward her
The rebels cried for their beloved Prince
As the King rushed to save his daughter
